You rarely ever see unattractive or 'old' female tv presenters, and
when you do, even they have been slathered in make up, tight clothes
and surgery (Anne Robinson). When there's a male and female presenter
together, the female is usually far more attractive than her male
counterpart (Eamonn Holmes Ruth Langsford).....and yes I know they
are married but I am more concerned with their job roles. So I'm
wandering, why does it seem so hard for 'ugly' women to get jobs on TV
than it is for men. Its almost as if they're saying 'female viewers
don't care about how attractive the men on their screens are but men
do, so lets make sure we have an attractive woman with a low cut dress
on there'. I would love to see the standards being more equal, if
there's a good looking female presenter, then I want to see a good
looking male presenter......why not?
The networks bows to the pressure of human nature? Or human nature
bows to the pressure of networks? Do we only think that this is what
we want because it is what we have been introduced to, and are used
to?
